Community Foundation

The Spartans Community Foundation is a social enterprise in North Edinburgh delivering positive impact through the power of people and sport.

Our involvement started with the badge design for the football team (The Spartans Football Club founded in 1951) and developed into purposeful work for one of the area’s most important charities. As well as junior coaching, the Foundation reinvests its profits back into the community through its broad range of youth work services, from the alternative school on site to its breakfast club and outreach work in local schools.

The altruistic activity of the Foundation can often be confused with the regular activity of the football club, which can limit support and fundraising activity. We were tasked with helping to raise the profile of the Foundation while communicating the powerful impact it brings to the local community. We developed the rallying cry of the campaign to instill belief in local young people – The Spartans Community Foundation is Here For Good.

The Foundation has secured the support of many high-profile figures from sport and entertainment including Gary Neville, Alistair McGowan, Kevin Keegan and Gordon Strachan. As part of the Here for Good fundraising campaign, the most recent charity dinner raised a whopping £214,673 in the room on the night. Chairman Craig Graham and Chief Executive Dougie Samuel were awarded an MBE for services to the young people and community of North Edinburgh in recognition for positive social impact.
