Led by multi-award-winning designer and inclusive design champion Lucy Richards, our team has decades of experience in strategic design and creative thinking. And we’re particularly proud of our expertise in communicating with diverse and hard-to-reach audiences sensitively, so no subject matter is too delicate to handle.

A creative business leader for 25 years, Lucy is a champion for inclusive design with a depth of experience developing communications for diverse groups of people.

  • Fellow of the RSA – a global organisation that unites people and ideas to resolve the challenges of our time.

  • Trustee of global charity Creativity, Culture and Education – using creativity to transform the learning experience.

  • Associate with The Promise Design School – working to redesign services for care experience children and young people.

  • Ambassador for Seamab School – a specialist school for children who’ve experienced severe trauma.

  • Mentor with MCR Pathways helping young people experience equality of education outcomes, career opportunities and life chances.

  • Member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme, managed by Disclosure Scotland.

  • Notable awards include the Best Social Good Campaign 2020 at the Nods Awards for the Any Disability symbol, created to raise awareness of hidden disabilities.

As well as leading Better Company, Lucy is co-founder of StudioLR – the gutsy creative agency, and Better Company’s other half.
